Impressive view of Pavey Ark. Jack's Rake is just about visible here and was my first taste of rock climbing.Wainwright says that this should not be attempted while icy or snowy - like Jeeez, what does he know?

Having had a superb time getting to Pavey Ark, climbing Jack's Rake, round to Harrison Stickle, down to the New Dungeon Gyll pub for a coffee, there was a sense of sadness that the walk had come to an end.Just before getting to my car, I turned round for a final glance at where I'd been. An hour or so later I was stuck in traffic on the M6.
